International meetings and conventions backing the third edition of Pharmintech
Sustainability and quality in drug production processes, contract manufacturing, issues connected with pharmaceutical packaging and medical devices: these are a few examples of the topics under analysis, in addition to the presentation of the Third Report by the Pharmintech Observatory.
Pharmintech is a key event on the agenda of all industry professionals for 2010.
The programme of meetings and conventions backing the exhibition of technologies has great international resonance and will begin on the eve of the official opening of Pharmintech.
On May 11th Ipack-Ima spa in cooperation with ISPE (a leading world association of pharmaceutical industry professionals) Italy Affiliate and PDA (the prestigious international institution dealing with development, quality monitoring and regulation of pharmaceutical products) Italy Chapter present the international congress "Designing quality, efficiency and sustainability into pharmaceutical processes".
"This convention takes inspiration from specific key words of primary importance for anybody dealing with production, with particular reference to the Life Science sector - says ISPE Italy Affiliate vice-president and chairman of the first session of the convention Enzo Maria Tieghi -. In addition to Quality, Compliance and Efficiency, for the first time the debate will also include Sustainability, which has recently become a very hot issue; so far, the pillars of research and innovation in the pharmaceutical industry had been Compliance and Quality".
"The discussion will also deal with QbD, Quality by Design, clearly based on the fact that there is no process in the pharmaceutical industry, including production and control, having more importance than others", remarks PDA Senior Director Science and Technology Volker Eck.
The list of speakers, all world-class experts, and the topics of the events are available on the exhibition website www.pharmintech.it in the section "seminars and meetings", in addition to detailed information regarding the entire event programme taking place during the exhibition.
On May 12th, Pharmintech's official opening day, the Third Report by the Pharmintech Observatory will present data and an economic analysis on pharmaceutical-related industries. The event will feature and in-depth analysis of the economic importance, role and current status of the industries supplying pharmaceutical, personal care and nutraceutical production, in addition to a debate on specific topics such as the evolution of engineering. The event will be presented by the head of the Observatory – a research project supported by Ipack-Ima spa: CNR researcher and Gruppo Economisti d'Impresa (Industrial Economists' Association) secretary Giampaolo Vitali.
One of the fastest growing trends shown by the pharmaceutical industry is the outsourcing of highly specialized processes. Contract Manufacturing is becoming a key sector and has already given birth to a dedicated association within Farmindustria. The relevance of this new sector, its evolution, size and the opportunities and threats brought about by its fast development will be under the spotlight during the seminar "The current status of Contract Manufacturing in Italy", taking place on May 13th.
May 14th is the last day of Pharmintech; the program offers yet another highly specialized event organized by the Italian Packaging Institute, whose objective is to create opportunities through the full cooperation of all components of the packaging industry. The round table discussion "Drugs and medical devices: the new packaging frontiers" will feature a debate between experts in drug manufacturing processes and medical devices and the representatives of the National Health Institute, the institution enforcing the strict regulation concerning these processes.
