Italian pharmaceutical industry leader Sergio Dompé to be president of Pharmintech 2010
The appointment highlights the key role of the exhibition for the pharmaceutical business community

Sergio Dompé, president of Farmindustria, will lead Pharmintech 2010, the highly specialized exhibition of technology for the pharmaceutical, personal care and nutraceutical industry on stage at Fiera di Bologna from May 12th to 14th 2010.

Sergio Dompé has also been president of Pharmintech 2007, and the fact that he accepted the appointment once again has a strong significance. He enjoys great renown both as a company leader and as the president of Farmindustria, the Association for the Pharmaceutical industry member of Confindustria (The Association of Italian Industries).

Accepting the role offered by Ipack-Ima Spa, the organizer of the exhibition, Mr. Dompé underlines the credibility and importance acquired by Pharmintech for the business community, an even more impressing result considering the exhibition is yet to stage its third edition.

Sergio Dompé leads a holding, Dompé Farmaceutici, employing 800 people with a 451 million euro turnover including the two controlled companies Amgen Dompé and Biogen Dompé. Board member of Fondazione IIT (the Italian Technology Institute) and president of the CNR (National Research Council) Evaluation Committee, since 2005 Mr. Dompé has been the head of Farmindustria, the reference Association for the Pharmaceutical industry with more than 200 member companies, both Italian and foreign-owned. The Italian pharmaceutical industry, with over 70,000 highly qualified employees, plays a key role on the international pharmaceutical scenario, with a total turnover exceeding 22 billion euros, 53% generated by exports (the percentage has tripled since 1996). Drug companies are crucial players for the pharmaceutical-related industries, of which Pharmintech is Europe’s prime specialized showcase.
