PRESS RELEASES

Press release n. 6
April 2007

The Maltese government chooses Pharmintech as qualified opportunity of information and update for the development of Malta's pharmaceutical production system

The governmental agency Malta Enterprise will officially support the reference exhibition for the pharmaceutical, personal care and nutraceutical industry on schedule in Bologna from June 12th to 14th 2007.

According to the agreement made with the exhibition organizer Ipack-Ima Spa, Malta Enterprise will participate in the event with its own stand and will present the opportunities offered by Malta to the pharmaceutical industry during a meeting called "Meet the protagonists: Malta Enterprise", taking place Wednesday June 13th at 10:30 am.

The meeting will feature several important guests, such as Emmanuel Mazzitelli from Malta Enterprise, who will explain the advantages and prospective for companies that intend to operate in Malta; and an exceptional speaker, Sergio Vella, Actavis Malta Ltd. General Manager. During his speech, he will explain why Actavis Group chose Malta as their headquarters.

Malta is a particularly interesting area for pharmaceutical manufacturing, which is one of the key industries of the island. For example, there are more than 15 companies producing drugs, with important development programs over the next five years. Malta Enterprise has an exceptionally significant role in this growth process: through the agency, Malta's executive organs attract investment, supporting companies according to the governmental policy of industrial development.

Malta Enterprise strategically positioned to cover the whole Mediterranean basin, will provide Ipack-Ima SpA with promotional support targeting local market players, thus giving further boost to Pharmintech's international reach. The exhibition will present the best in the production of the pharmaceutical, personal care and nutraceutical industry, raw materials, facilities, plants, logistics, packaging materials, containers and services, next June in Bologna.

Two months from the exhibition, 245 companies have already reserved their exhibiting areas, 30 % of which come from foreign countries. The events held during the exhibition make it one of the most significant in Europe for pharmaceutical industry. The program includes the ISPE (International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering) convention scheduled for the opening day. Pharmintech, headed by the leader of Farmindustria (the Italian Association of Drug Companies), Sergio Dompé, is promoted by Ucima and enjoys the support of the most prestigious industrial and professional associations of the sector: ISPE Italy Affiliate, ADF (Pharmaceutical Distributors' Association), AFI (Industrial Pharmaceutical Professionals' Association), AFTI (Ticino Pharmaceuticals Association), ANIPLA (Italian Automation Association), ASIS (Health Industry Studies Association), GISI (Italian Instrumentation Companies Association) and PDA - Italy Chapter (Parenteral Drug Association).
